This week in Math/Sci

Hello Grade 8's

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend!

This week in math we will be continuing to work with surface area of 3-dimensional shapes. This will lead up to a surface area quiz on Thursday, Oct. 17 which will cover nets, squares, triangular prisms, pyramids and word problems. A reminder that the L-Blocks worksheet will be due on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Here are some of the equations that we have derived in class. It will be handy to know these for Thursday.

This week in science, we will look into the particle model of matter. Your journal entry on your opinion of the environmental platform of each major political party is due on Friday, Oct. 18. Questions you need to answer can be found on the last slide of today's slideshow.

It may be a short week, but we'll be able to take full advantage of it!

I'll see you tomorrow,

Mr. Badr

Update: Friday Nov 8

Hi friends, As you know, Edict responses were due today ! You were meant to have submitted hard copy versions (handwritten/typed) into your corresponding class' drop box (up near SmartBoard). Today was the second opportunity you had to work on your written rationales for the Exhibit artifacts. Remember, EACH STUDENT is required to submit an informative piece of text along with the build, your blueprints, and any other planning documents you may have. I have provided you with some very specific prompts -- please refer your class' Share Folder for this task. You should also be working on your Hockey Hero task, as I will be looking for this to be completed by Weds, Nov 13. Please come chat to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns :) Happy weekend folks. -Mrs. Lockyer

Some of us have struggled the last while and as such, tasks have come in late, and/or incomplete. You are always given enough time... so please do you work. It's part of learning and organizing yourselves. "Real world preparation" means adhering to  real deadlines... For the next 2 weeks, you will  most likely  have to work on tasks ...
