Update - Humanities

Hey Folks,

It's been a pretty busy couple weeks! "Good on ya!" to those of you who submitted the first drafts of your essays last week -- it certainly helped to get the editing process moving.

By tonight, both classes will have read through each other's papers. Now, the original authors will decide whether or not they want to implement any suggested changes.

FINAL ESSAY DUE: Tuesday, December 17.

- Printed
- Font 12
- Double spacing
- References page (now that we've gone over this in class)

Please, also, type your name. The worst thing is spending time on a piece of writing, printing it off, and then scribbling your name in pen/pencil on the top! When I see this, I swear, I get a grey hair! It just all comes down to presentation + aesthetics of your work.

You also have either your illuminated manuscripts OR comic which will be due Tuesday, December 17 as well.

April 2 - Looking Ahead

Hello everyone! It's been wonderful to see that so many students are logging on to D2L! We've been noticing students looking at the Light and Optics slides and working on their writing prompts, so good work! Tomorrow, we are going to have our first Friday class meeting on Google Meet at 10am . An invite code will be sent to your webmail at 9:55am. It is expected that you attend - barring technical difficulties. This meeting will be a little bit longer than our usual meetings since we are still getting up and running. This Week in Math and Science

Hello Grade 8's! Last week in science, we took a look at the particle model of matter, viscosity, density and buoyancy. Slides shown in class can be viewed by clicking here his link . Make sure you know and review these! On Thursday, we looked at the density of different substances in the creation of our density tower. We found that the most dense substance, corn syrup, sank to the bottom, below the other substances. This was followed by dish soap, water, vegetable oil and rubbing alcohol, the least dense substance, resting on top. On Friday,  buoyancy was introduced by Bill Nye . This week, we will continue to look into buoyancy and compressibility. Our density tower - Rubbing alcohol (dyed red), Vegetable Oil (yellow/white), Water (dyed blue), Dish Soap (green), Corn Syrup (brown).
