Humanities Week of Feb 18

Hi Folks!

Good job to most of you for staying on track with your reading goals over that extra-long weekend! Keep working through the weekly Lit Circle prompts -- as I will be looking through ALL of them very soon... 😃

Here are a few jot notes:

- Yesterday, we finished up our profile of Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation. I think most of us have a very solid understanding of Luther's contributions. Well done!

- We will now begin a study on the works of Leonardo da Vinci, and, delve into some individual inquiries relating to a few more of the influential figures during the Renaissance.

- As mentioned in class on Tuesday, we'd like to have all novels completed by Friday, February 28, so that we can get started on our essay writing tasks.

- Both classes will plan to hold their Signoria Meetings on Thursday, February 27.

April 2 - Looking Ahead

Hello everyone! It's been wonderful to see that so many students are logging on to D2L! We've been noticing students looking at the Light and Optics slides and working on their writing prompts, so good work! Tomorrow, we are going to have our first Friday class meeting on Google Meet at 10am . An invite code will be sent to your webmail at 9:55am. It is expected that you attend - barring technical difficulties. This meeting will be a little bit longer than our usual meetings since we are still getting up and running. Two main topics we will cover in this meeting: Tutorial on how to submit assignments from Drive on D2L How to take the Practice Quiz (Tomorrow) and the Science Test (Monday) One question we had yesterday was about what Mrs. Thornborough is going to do with Band . We talked to her today and she said that she would set up a webpage with an optional weekly activity for Band students to do in order to further their learning and skills. This is NOT a cours...

Hi Guys, Our hallways were left like this at the end of the day... Not cool. Why should the facilities operators be cleaning up after this?! We also found the piece of lead used to create this not-so creative design, on a table, in my classroom... Just wanted to toss it out there and remind folks, that we need to treat our learning environment with respect . We've had a number of incidents this week, including inappropriate use of technology, swearing in the halls, pushing/physically harassing others, and destruction of school property. This is not how Grade 8s ought to behave... You're better than this. Tomorrow's a new day. -Mrs. Lockyer
