Pi Day - Parent Message

Hi Friends!

I've attempted to send out a Messenger to your families this evening, but the system is having issues and has cut off my text BOTH times... aargh.

Please let your parents know that we'll be having a Pi Day celebration on March 13 and show them this blurb:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Friday, March 13 our Gr.8 classes will be celebrating Pi Day!

Typically, the event is held on March 14 (3.14...) but because this year it falls on a weekend, we are going to acknowledge it on the Friday.

Students will participate in a variety of mathematical activities, take part in a lightning round recitation of Pi, and hopefully, eat some actual pie at the end of the day 🙂

We are wondering if anyone would be willing to donate a pie to their child's homeroom, as we would be looking for about 8 full-sized pies per class.

Please let your child's homeroom teacher know if you are able to provide a pie, so that we do not end up with too many. Also, due to a number of dietary restrictions, we would be looking for dairy free and gluten free pie options as well.

Best Regards,
Grade 8 Team

Update: Friday Nov 8

Hi friends, As you know, Edict responses were due today ! You were meant to have submitted hard copy versions (handwritten/typed) into your corresponding class' drop box (up near SmartBoard). Today was the second opportunity you had to work on your written rationales for the Exhibit artifacts. Remember, EACH STUDENT is required to submit an informative piece of text along with the build, your blueprints, and any other planning documents you may have. I have provided you with some very specific prompts -- please refer your class' Share Folder for this task. You should also be working on your Hockey Hero task, as I will be looking for this to be completed by Weds, Nov 13. Please come chat to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns :) Happy weekend folks. -Mrs. Lockyer

Hi Folks! We've now wrapped up our City-State proposals, as well as, a main portion of our Renaissance inquiry. Thank you to those who presented on Thursday, it was SO engaging!! *(See pics below!) Congrats to 8-1s Medici and 8-2s Pazzi famiglias! Today, we started our switch up and shuffled into different groupings: welcome to 2 weeks of FIRE & ICE!! In regards to upcoming tasks, we've got 2 major assignments on the go. Both are due Weds, March 18: - Final Lit Circle Prompt (Essay #2) - Influential Figure *Along the way, we will have check-ins and mini-deadlines as well. Please use your class time effectively . Some of us have struggled the last while and as such, tasks have come in late, and/or incomplete. You are always given enough time... so please do you work. It's part of learning and organizing yourselves. "Real world preparation" means adhering to  real deadlines... For the next 2 weeks, you will  most likely  have to work on tasks ...
