April 2 - Looking Ahead

Hello everyone!

It's been wonderful to see that so many students are logging on to D2L! We've been noticing students looking at the Light and Optics slides and working on their writing prompts, so good work!

Tomorrow, we are going to have our first Friday class meeting on Google Meet at 10am. An invite code will be sent to your webmail at 9:55am. It is expected that you attend - barring technical difficulties. This meeting will be a little bit longer than our usual meetings since we are still getting up and running.

Two main topics we will cover in this meeting:

  • Tutorial on how to submit assignments from Drive on D2L
  • How to take the Practice Quiz (Tomorrow) and the Science Test (Monday)
One question we had yesterday was about what Mrs. Thornborough is going to do with Band. We talked to her today and she said that she would set up a webpage with an optional weekly activity for Band students to do in order to further their learning and skills. This is NOT a course. It is completely voluntary and does not count towards your 10 required hours of schoolwork each week.

We have also made a slight change to our available office hours to add some variance.

We look forward to seeing you in the AM!
- Mr. Badr & Mrs. Lockyer

Update: Friday Nov 8

Hi friends, As you know, Edict responses were due today ! You were meant to have submitted hard copy versions (handwritten/typed) into your corresponding class' drop box (up near SmartBoard). Today was the second opportunity you had to work on your written rationales for the Exhibit artifacts. Remember, EACH STUDENT is required to submit an informative piece of text along with the build, your blueprints, and any other planning documents you may have. I have provided you with some very specific prompts -- please refer your class' Share Folder for this task. You should also be working on your Hockey Hero task, as I will be looking for this to be completed by Weds, Nov 13. Please come chat to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns :) Happy weekend folks. -Mrs. Lockyer

Both are due Weds, March 18: - Final Lit Circle Prompt (Essay #2) - Influential Figure *Along the way, we will have check-ins and mini-deadlines as well. Please use your class time effectively . Some of us have struggled the last while and as such, tasks have come in late, and/or incomplete. You are always given enough time... so please do you work. It's part of learning and organizing yourselves. "Real world preparation" means adhering to  real deadlines... For the next 2 weeks, you will  most likely  have to work on tasks ...

Humanities: Week of Oct 15 - Oct 18

Today we started our Edo JigSaw Focus Groups in 8-1 and 8-2! So far, we've been off to a strong start! Well done those of you who presented today. Everyone was meant to have their presentation/notes ready for today, regardless of whether or not they presented. We will attempt to wrap these JigSaws up tomorrow (Weds). There will be an ELA quiz on Friday Oct 18.  You'll need to review the following: - sentence types - clauses - subject/predicate - verbs Letter to Shogun is due Friday Oct 18.  - Typed, font 12, double spaced, printed Reminder: Please come see me prior to any due dates if you feel you will not be able to meet deadlines. Telling me the day of is unacceptable. Typically you are given time in class, so if you're not handing things in, it begs the question -- "What have you been doing?" We'll be getting into Meiji this week, as well as, starting our exhibit designs. Thanks! -Mrs. Lockyer
