April 2 - Looking Ahead

Hello everyone!

It's been wonderful to see that so many students are logging on to D2L! We've been noticing students looking at the Light and Optics slides and working on their writing prompts, so good work!

Tomorrow, we are going to have our first Friday class meeting on Google Meet at 10am. An invite code will be sent to your webmail at 9:55am. It is expected that you attend - barring technical difficulties. This meeting will be a little bit longer than our usual meetings since we are still getting up and running.

Two main topics we will cover in this meeting:

  • Tutorial on how to submit assignments from Drive on D2L
  • How to take the Practice Quiz (Tomorrow) and the Science Test (Monday)
One question we had yesterday was about what Mrs. Thornborough is going to do with Band. We talked to her today and she said that she would set up a webpage with an optional weekly activity for Band students to do in order to further their learning and skills. This is NOT a course. It is completely voluntary and does not count towards your 10 required hours of schoolwork each week.

We have also made a slight change to our available office hours to add some variance.

We look forward to seeing you in the AM!

Week of September 9-13

Hi Folks!  Thanks for a great start to the 2019/2020 school year!  As you know, Mr. Badr and I are both new to the TMC community, and as such, are still waiting to be connected to all of the sites... unfortunately, we have not yet acquired access to the School Messenger system and PowerSchool. Once that is all up, we will let you know and things will be a lot smoother. Fingers crossed it all happens early next week! As of now, we've delved into our study of Worldview, taken a trip to Japan, and are in the midst of learning about why a country would want to isolate itself. By the end of the week, we will have starting talking about what makes a "scary" story (more-so suspense filled) and begin our work with Urban Legends. Don't forget -- Thursday, Sept 12 we will be in Kananaskis taking part in our G8 "Summit"! Dress for the weather, come with extra snacks, and be prepared to have a ton of fun! Thanks friends! Fraction Division Problems

Hello grade 8's, Here are a couple links to loads of practice problems (with solutions) for fraction division as well as the PDF link of the entire fractions chapter from the textbook. My expectation for this week is that you will work through at least two of these worksheets on your own and confirm your answers yourself. Textbook resources are in the share folder.
